In solid-liquid separation fields such as metallurgy, mining, and chemicals, the operating status of disc filters directly affects production efficiency and product quality. To determine the operating status of a disc filter, the following three core indicators are crucial:
Filter Cake Moisture Content: Filter cake moisture content is a vital parameter for evaluating the separation effect of a disc filter. Taking iron concentrate as an example, ideally, the filter cake moisture content should be controlled below 10%. If the moisture content exceeds this standard, it may indicate insufficient filtration pressure or filter cloth blockage. The filtration pressure and filter cloth condition should be checked promptly to ensure the separation effect meets standards.
Processing Capacity: Processing capacity reflects the actual working capacity of the disc filter. Based on dry ore, the processing capacity per square meter of filtration area is approximately 1-1.5 tons per hour. If the processing capacity is lower than this range, it may be due to insufficient feed concentration, inadequate filtration pressure, or poor filter cloth permeability; while excessive processing capacity may lead to accelerated filter cloth wear and increased equipment load. Therefore, the feed concentration, filtration pressure, and filter cloth condition need to be adjusted in a timely manner based on the deviation between the actual processing capacity and the standard value.
Filtrate Solids Content The filtrate solids content reflects the purification effect of the disc filter. Ideally, the filtrate solids content should be ≤0.5 g/L. If the filtrate solids content exceeds this limit, it may indicate insufficient filtration or leaks in the filter cloth. The filtration system and filter cloth integrity need to be checked to prevent solid particles from entering the filtrate system and affecting product quality.
In summary, by closely monitoring the three key indicators-filter cake moisture content, throughput, and filtrate solids content-the operating status of the disc filter can be effectively determined, providing strong support for improving production efficiency and ensuring product quality.
